What we do

IPAR helps people to enjoy all the benefits of work and wellbeing.

We are a national work and health services provider. If you have been injured at home, at work, or in a transport accident (whether your injury or illness is physical or psychological), or if you are transitioning from one employment type to another, we provide services to help you get better and stay at, or get back to work.

Being referred to IPAR

Usually you will be referred to us by your insurance company, your employer or your doctor.

You may be able to choose your provider. To assist you in making this choice, we are happy for you to talk to one of our consultants so that you can better understand who we are and how we will assist you, as well as to answer any questions you may have. You can find your nearest IPAR office here.

Getting started

Once we receive a referral to assist you stay at or return to work, we will contact you to arrange a convenient time to meet. We can meet either at your workplace or at one of our offices. Our extensive office network across Australia means it is likely we will have a location near to you.

Our consultants are allied health professionals. They are qualified Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Exercise Physiologists, Registered Nurses, Psychologists or Rehabilitation Counsellors. The consultant that works with you will seek to understand your situation and your injury or illness, and will work with you and other stakeholders to achieve a suitable and safe return to work for you.

What does IPAR do?

Sometimes, we help people return to the same job that they had prior to their injury or illness. Sometimes, we help people to find new employment. It could be a new job with the same employer, or a new job with a new employer.

No matter whether you are returning to the same job or a new job, our role is to come up with a plan that is right for you.

To do this, we will work closely with you, as well as your employer and any health professionals who are treating you. Over many years, we have found that working together is the best way to help you make a recovery and get back to work as soon as it is safe to do so.

Every year, we help more than 17,000 people on this journey. For many of these people, this help has meant a return to their normal lives. They tell us that they are now feeling how they used to feel, and doing what they used to do, before their injury or illness. This return to wellbeing and work is what we aim to achieve for every person that we work with.

Working together

You will be assigned a consultant who will work with you over the journey of your recovery. Your consultant will:

  • Get a clear understanding of your situation and how we can best help you move forward
  • Help you understand the process of getting better and getting back to work
  • Make a plan for your safe return to work (with the agreement of you, your employer and doctors)
  • Share information with all the people who are helping in your return to work and wellbeing
  • Answer any questions that you may have along the way

Most importantly, our consultants will do all of the above with care and compassion. We know that being unwell or changing employment affects how you feel both physically and mentally, so our aim is to help you through this time as much as we possibly can.
